Independence...

Have we taken it too far?
It hurts to say... but yes....

The Equality that our Sisters of the Past fought for,
Is overshadowed by the Independent Women of Today.

Watching timelines, over-hearing conversations in public, lyrics of today's music, and the plots of visual media....
They all lead to one thought....
We have taken it too far!

Sisters of the Past....
Stood side by side, supported one another, helped with daycare, loaned a cup of sugar, and were genuinely happy when their sister was happy....

Today's Independent Women...
Always want to be ahead, stepping on one another as they rise the Ladder of Success, use profanity when speaking to and describing children, and if another is happy... they will work to destroy it from all angles.

Why?
Why do we hurt each other so?
Why are we so lost?
When did we loose the message????

We are Women.
We are Mothers.
We are Lovers.
We are Friends.
We are Wives.
We are Sisters.....

It's time to take back who we are.
It's time to take back our Community...
It's time to be a Village....

I have No Choice....

As we approach Father's Day of 2013....
Things have changed...

This will be the First year that I have no choice...
I won't be able to call.
I won't be able to visit.
And sending a card will not happen either...
This is the first time that you are truly gone.

There were many times over the years that I held back....
Out of respect.
And out of fear.
Part of me regrets that...
And part of me knows that inner struggle is part of what created the Woman that I am.

As I sit here today...
I just wanted to say thank you.

I know that you did you're very best.
And, I'll always remember that....
